First Great Western is taking a Scalextric model train set on tour to compliment its £6million “Be a Great Westerner” multi-media advertising campaign.
The model tour, through Blackjack Promotions, is part of the push to promote the South West as a tourist destination. It invites people to participate in the ‘First Great Western Challenge’ by trying their hand at driving a branded train along the model track to see who can make it in the best time. ??
Participants will drive through models of landmarks in the South West, including the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the National Assembly for Wales’ Senedd, and have their times recorded on a scoreboard.
The track visits the Devon County Show and the Bath and West Show this month (May).
First Great Western campaign manager Jamie Anderson said: “Supporting our Be a Great Westerner advertising campaign, this model showcases the entire Great Western network and helps to remind people of some of the beautiful attractions available on our own doorstep. ??
“Not only that, it also brings back childhood memories of setting up the Scalextric on the sitting room floor and is great fun.”??
Holly Neufville, account director at Blackjack Promotions, added: “The aim with this bespoke First Great Western track is to bring something fun and interactive for guests to enjoy at these events, all the while capturing customer data, to help customers better take advantage of FGW offers, in the process.”??
The Scalextric model tour compliments Monday’s launch of First Great Western’s latest “Be a Great Westerner” multi-media advertising campaign, which will see a £6 million investment in TV, print and online advertising promoting travel to the South West, managed by MEC Manchester.
